Letter to the Membership from the Conference Planning Committee Chair

Welcome to the 2018 Annual Conference webpage. Please check here frequently for updates and information about the 2018 conference.  Complete conference details will be released in the coming weeks, including the agenda and hotel information.

I am so excited to be chairing the CAPCSD Annual Conference this year! From the time I attended my first CAPCSD conference, I knew that this was a talented and welcoming family of professionals. Each year that I come to the conference, I am amazed by the level of collaboration and support that CAPCSD members have for one another. We are a diverse group, from different geographic areas, programs both large and small, and each with our own unique needs, yet we all share a love of education, and the ability to energize each other year after year. As a planning committee, we strived to create a conference that showcases this level of enthusiasm and inclusion.

This year’s conference theme is A New Perspective in Academia: Renew, Refresh, Refocus. The Conference Planning Committee reviewed your feedback from the 2017 conference and incorporated your thoughts and ideas in the 2018 program. We are now extremely excited to share this year’s conference schedule with you.

We will kick things off with a pre-conference session titled Renew: Changing the Culture of Accreditation. As we did last year, we will offer two plenary sessions. The first plenary session will focus on positive leadership across diverse populations and the second on effective ways to connect the classroom to the clinic. Additionally, we have many other sessions planned on topics such as the academic administrator’s role in Medicare, navigating faculty transitions, working with the 21st century student, innovative approaches to externships, incorporating interviews in the admissions process, increasing Ph.D. admissions and retention, organizing your time, space, and habits to increase productivity, and so much more!

As always, there will also be many opportunities to network with each other during sessions and at social gatherings.

I look forward to seeing all of you in Austin!
