Leadership Academy

As part of its mission to provide visionary leadership for academic programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders and to promote the professional development of its constituents, the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) is continuing a program to help individuals considering academic leadership positions, or who are newly engaged in academic leadership, develop their knowledge and skills in the area of leadership.

The third annual CAPCSD Leadership Academy, “Best Practices in Academic Leadership,” was held April 18-19, 2017, prior to the CAPCSD annual conference at the New Orleans Marriott. The Academy was led by Dr. Jeffrey Buller, Dean of Florida Atlantic University’s Wilkes Honors College. Topics to be covered included foundations of leadership; time management; stress management; collegiality and team building; best practices in faculty evaluation, mentoring, and coaching; leading change; and goal setting/planning for the future.

The 2018 application process will be announced in Fall 2017.
