Frances J. Laven Scholarship

Applications will be accepted October 1, 2017 – January 5, 2018.

Presented in honor of Frances J. Laven, the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) promotes service by students in Communication Sciences and Disorders. In support of this goal, CAPCSD will fund one student scholarship to recognize exemplary student service. This award is intended for graduate students in a professional program (Master’s-SLP, AuD, or SLP-D) who have shown exemplary service. Examples of service may include, but are not limited to, community service, service to the department or university, or service to the greater discipline. The application requires a nomination letter from a faculty mentor (clinical or academic), signed by the department chair. Only one nomination per CAPCSD member program is accepted. Programs with multiple potential applicants may devise their own internal review process for the selection of one applicant. The selected candidate will submit their own application. This scholarship is open to all CAPCSD member programs in good standing as of September 15, 2017.

Award amount: One $5,000 scholarship.
