CAPCSD Working Group on Educational Outcomes: 1999-2000

The charges to the Working Group on Educational Outcomes are to promote
the development and dissemination of resource materials to assist member
programs in the development and implementation of meaningful educational
outcomes programs, and to provide feedback to ASHA's Council on Academic
Accreditation regarding accreditation standards and guidelines pertaining
to educational outcomes.
Members of this Working Group for 1999-2000 are Brooke Hallowell
(Chair), Nicholas Bankson, Cynthia Bartlett, and Nan Lund.
During 1999-2000 the Working Group on Educational Outcomes has
undertaken the following tasks:

Planning for the outcomes assessment section of the April 2000 conference,
with a focus on specific hands-on strategies for improving formative assessment
practices.

Consideration of means of informing member programs about ways in which
work to help students meet the new audiology certification standards and
the newly proposed SLP certification standards may be complemented by improved
outcomes assessment practices. This has included consultation with
John Saxman, the CAPCSD's ad hoc contact with the ASHA's Council on Professional
Standards in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

Continued collection of assessment instruments from member programs, and
dissemination of outcomes assessment materials at the CAPCSD annual conference.
Cost of photocopies, mailing, and faxing of instruments has continued to
be a barrier to having the Working Group serve as an ongoing clearinghouse
for outcomes assessment materials.

With the publication of the 2000 Conference proceedings, the Working Group
on Educational Outcomes has completed its charges.
