CAPCSD is seeking volunteers from the
membership to serve on two committees:

 

Academic Affairs Committee
and
IPE/IPP Committee

Academic Affairs Committee

CAPCSD is seeking nominations for the Academic Affairs Committee. We are looking for six (6) SLP members and two (2) Audiologists. Membership in the Academic Affairs Committee is a two-year term starting July 1, 2023.

Why consider volunteering for the CAPCSD?

CAPCSD is the preeminent association for advancing the mission and goals of programs in communication sciences and disorders whose mission is to improve the academic environment for our disciplines.The work of the Academic Affairs Committee is to monitor trends and address issues impacting academic preparation of speech language pathologists and audiologists and make recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Academic Affairs Committee will also support advancement of research, scholarship, and service by coordinating the CAPCSD scholarship application and review process.

What are the benefits of serving CAPCSD in this volunteer role?

  • Monitor trends in academic preparation of SLPs and audiologists. 
  • Develop resources and supports to address issues impacting CSD faculty, students, and programs.
  • Cultivate a network of like minded individuals who are interested in academic preparation of speech language pathologists and audiologists.
  • Coordinate and complete timely reviews for CAPCSD’s annual scholarship program. 

What kind of time commitment can I expect?

Academic Affairs Committee members are expected to participate in monthly virtual meetings to accomplish tasks associated with the mission of the committee. The time commitment between meetings varies based on the task at hand.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in academic leadership (such as Chairs, Clinical Directors, Graduate Coordinators) is especially valued in the selection process.

The Process

The nominee letter of interest and credentials are reviewed by the Vice President for Research and Academic Affairs for recommendation to the Board of Directors. The Board approves all final appointments. Terms begin July 1, 2023.

IPE/IPP Committee

CAPCSD is seeking nominations for two (2) SLPs and one (1) Au.D. to serve as a member of the Interprofessional Practice/Education (IPE/IPP) Committee for a two-year term starting July 1, 2023. The IPE/IPP committee serves to assist member programs in implementing IPE in their curricula, promote IPE in their institutions, and help member programs understand IPE and their role.

Why consider volunteering for the CAPCSD IPE/IPP Committee?

CAPCSD is the preeminent association for advancing the mission and goals of programs in communication sciences and disorders whose mission is to improve the academic environment for our disciplines. If you have a passion for interprofessional practice (IPP), educating the next generation of providers about IPP, networking with colleagues around this topic, and developing materials and resources for members/member programs, please consider applying to IPE/IPP Committee.

What are the benefits of serving CAPCSD in this volunteer role?

  • Influencing the issues that affect the academy.
  • Develop a broader vision of the issues impacting CSD faculty, students, and programs.
  • Cultivate a network of like-minded individuals who are interested in promoting quality IPP/IPE in speech pathology/audiology.
  • Represent an association of individuals who are specifically concerned with the education of future professionals.

What kind of time commitment can I expect?

IPE/IPP members are expected to participate in monthly virtual meetings to accomplish tasks associated with the mission of the committee, such as creating materials to promote IPE/IPP and innovative programming to build capacity and networking around IPE/IPP for member programs. The time commitment between meetings varies based on the task at hand.

Experience as content matter experts in Interprofessional Practice and Education are especially valued in the selection process.
