Congratulations! Out of 97 institutions that submitted the 2017 CSD Education Survey in time to be included in the 2nd drawing for a free registration to the 2018 CAPCSD Conference in Austin, Texas on April 11-14, 2018; the University of Montevallo was randomly selected for a complimentary registration.



Congratulations! 54 institutions submitted the 2017 CSD Education Survey in time to be included in the September drawing for a free registration to the 2017 ASHA convention. A.T. Still University – Arizona School of Health Sciences was identified as the winner.



Scholarships

scholarshipawardeesThe Council has a long history of supporting student education through the scholarship program. These awards have targeted both prospective professionals and academics in audiology, speech-language pathology and hearing/speech/language science. In 2017, CAPCSD distributed over $200,000 in scholarship support.

Scholarship programs are open to all CAPCSD member programs in good standing as of September 15, 2017.


Plural Publishing Scholarship Application

Applications will be accepted Friday, September 1, 2017 until 12:00 a.m., EDT, Wednesday, November 1, 2017

Presented in honor of Dr. Sadanand Singh, the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) promotes research by students in Communication Sciences and Disorders. In support of this goal, Plural Publishing has generously agreed to fund two scholarship awards that will support graduate student research. There are two award categories: Masters/AuD level award, intended for masters/AuD level students who are pursuing research in speech-language pathology or audiology and Doctoral-level award, intended for PhD students who are pursuing research in audiology, speech-language pathology or speech-language-hearing sciences.  All applicants from CAPCSD member programs will be considered. There is no limit to the number of applicants for each award category.  This scholarship is open to all CAPCSD member programs in good standing as of September 15, 2017.

Award amount: One $3,000 scholarship per award category.

Frances J. Laven Scholarship Application

Applications will be accepted October 1, 2017 – January 5, 2018.

Presented in honor of Frances Laven, the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) promotes service by students in Communication Sciences and Disorders. In support of this goal, CAPCSD will fund one student scholarship to recognize exemplary student service. This award is intended for graduate students in a professional program (Master’s-SLP, AuD, or SLP-D) who have shown exemplary service. Examples of service may include, but are not limited to, community service, service to the department or university, or service to the greater discipline. This scholarship program is open to all CAPCSD member programs in good standing as of September 15, 2017.  The application requires a nomination letter from a faculty mentor (clinical or academic), signed by the department chair. Only one nomination per CAPCSD member program is accepted. Programs with multiple potential applicants may devise their own internal review process for the selection of one applicant. The selected candidate will submit their own application.

Award amount: One $5,000 scholarship.

PhD Scholarship Application

Applications will be accepted November 1, 2017 – February 2, 2018.

The Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) is committed to addressing the Ph.D. shortage in Communication Sciences and Disorders, specifically the Ph.D. To this end, CAPCSD will address a salient factor influencing the Ph.D. pipeline: time to degree completion. CAPCSD announces a scholarship program for Ph.D.* students who are focused on an academic career in Communication Sciences and Disorders. CAPCSD will award up to 10 scholarships of $20,000 for each successful scholarship awardee. These scholarships are intended for those students who have advanced to candidacy (ABD). This scholarship is open to all CAPCSD member programs in good standing as of September 15, 2017. Only one applicant per CAPCSD member program is accepted.  Programs with multiple potential applicants may devise their own internal review process for the selection of one applicant. The selected candidate will submit their own application.

* CAPCSD welcomes applications from ABD students working toward any research doctoral degree, typically a Ph.D.
